Karamanoglu Mehmet Bey, in an edict published by him in 13 May 1277, ordered as "From now on, no one shall use any language other than Turkish in the palace, council, assemblies and the audience" and hence showed that he paid importance to Turkish. When the Ottoman Empire started to establish dominance over the Anatolian Turkish Principalities, the influence of Turkish language was diminished. Particularly, the Ottoman language, which was influenced by the Persian and Arabic alphabets, began to be used in state affairs. With time, literature was also influenced by language.
