Community Interpreting
What is Community Translation and where is it applied?
Community/public service interpreting is a language service offered to individuals or groups having troubles in communication with language and institutions while benefiting from social rights and services provided to local and foreign people in a country. In general, these fields comprises of public institutions and organizations, foundations, associations and private sector. Hospitals, schools, İşkur and private employment offices, customs and border gates, public transport, police, gendarmerie, courthouse, private sector industrial facilities and many other environments can be considered as a community area.
Our country, which is located in the Middle East, and is almost a bridge to the migration movements that emerged as a result of the wars experienced for decades, is a shifting location which is located on the transit route or the final destination of many immigrants from East and South. For this reason, we see Afghan, Tajik, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Iraqi, Kurdish, Syrian and African immigrants and asylum seekers in our country. While these masses may be in the camps and under the supervision of the state, on the other hand, they can move freely within the country legally or illegally and can be observed in every field.
Turkey is actively working together with "Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees" which was founded in 1950 and whose task is to provide support for refugees and asylum seekers and provides social support to migrants in every field. In order to provide welfare to these masses, the language support is also organized by NGOs and public institutions.
Ivogsan is in cooperation with these NGOs and public institutions, wherever needed and supports asylum seekers, immigrants and all foreign guests in Turkey who have language problems in public spaces.
